Lightning DS is very slow on my iPad

If you have other UPnP control software installed on your iPad, such as Linn Kinsky, Linn Kazoo, please make sure to quite those App completely before starting Lightning DS.

Since Lightning DS and those App are using same network port sending and receiving data, keeping them running at background will cause trouble.
