The ARIES MINI is super easy to install and set up, but there are a few things you’ll need to review to make sure your system is ready for an AIRES MINI.
- WiFi – the ARIES MINI streams music over your existing WiFi network, so you’ll have to have WiFi set up in your home. (This article can help you assess whether your network will work well for streaming audio.)
- Digital music files stored somewhere on your network – most users will have digital music files stored on a dedicated server (NAS drive) or a computer connected to the network (a network share.) During setup you’ll point the ARIES MINI to that location for it to read the files. If you don’t have music files stored on your network, you can plug a USB drive directly into the MINI, or purchase a 2.5” HDD/SSD to install storage right on the MINI itself. More information on Music Libraries can be found here. 'Manage My Music'
*** (Note that if all you want to do is access streaming audio sources such as Internet Radio and streaming services like TIDAL and Qobuz, you won’t need network-attached storage of files.)
An iOS device – the control interface for the ARIES MINI is an iOS app called Lightning DS. To run it you’ll need an iOS device (iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch 5th and 6th Gen) running iOS 8 or later.
