About This Release:

  • 15th November 2018
  • Devices with firmware from Version 1.8.2 and earlier will need to update the boot code after reboot. There will be a message displayed on device warning people not to power off the unit during this stage. The updating of boot code will take about 70 - 80 seconds. The unit will reboot after boot code has been updated.

Please make sure you do not reboot or turn off the unit during the update of boot code, or else the unit will no longer be able to boot up (will have to return to factory for flashing the boot code).

New Features:

  • Upgraded system kernel and file system to improve overall performance.
  • Introduces the web-based Lightning DS web control interface. Use the IP address of your device to access the web control interface. Chrome and Safari are recommended.

Fixes:

  • Device hangs when network connection problem is encountered
  • Device hangs when encountering a Roon-related problem (USB DAC not present)
  • Rapidly pressing pause in Lightning DS can cause streaming devices to crash.
  • Unable to play music files if a transcode function is enabled by a particular NAS drive.
  • Unable to play transcode WAVE file generated by AssetUPnP server software.
  • USB Mixer setting error that leads to low volume when using a USB connection to particular types of USB DACs.
  • Device will start play last track inside queue randomly by itself.
  • Lightning Server can’t update the music library even after artist tags have changed.
  • Unable to initialize internal storage over 2.2TB size

Improvements:

  • Reduces interruptions in online streaming playback.
  • Reduced pop noise while using Native DSD output format.
  • Switched to a new TIDAL streaming endpoint API for better stability.
  • Device will reconnect and play Internet Radio automatically after a connection interrupt.
  • Lightning Server will remove leading and trailing spaces from any tag segment.
  • Streaming device will now unmount all network shared folders when it is being put to sleep (resolves the problem that NAS can not go sleep).
  • Lightning Server no longer recognizes DST-encoded DSD files, as they are not supported by AURALiC streaming devices.
  • System-level stability improvements due to new system kernel and file system.
